Mediatic Youth

Mediatic Youth empowers young Europeans with media literacy and critical thinking skills to navigate misinformation, protect privacy, and engage responsibly in the digital world. Through workshops, public outreach, creative production, and intercultural learning, participants become active, ethical, and innovative media users who spread awareness in their communities.

This Erasmus+ Youth Project was supported by Jugend Für Europe and the European Union.

Overview

In an age dominated by rapid digital transformation, the media has become one of the most powerful forces shaping social, cultural, economic, and political life. However, the lack of structured media literacy education has left many young people vulnerable to manipulation, misinformation, and passive consumption.

Mediatic Youth addresses this challenge by promoting critical media awareness and analytical thinking among young Europeans, empowering them to become active, responsible, and creative media users. The project bridges education, civic engagement, and youth empowerment, encouraging participants to reflect critically on the information they consume and produce.

General Aim

To develop media-literate, critically thinking young citizens who understand how media influences modern society and are equipped to use it consciously, ethically, and creatively.

Specific Objectives

  • To educate young individuals on media literacy concepts and critical analysis.

  • To promote awareness of the media’s role in shaping knowledge, culture, and identity.

  • To enhance young people’s critical thinking and understanding of personal privacy in the digital world.

  • To foster innovation and creativity in media-related youth initiatives.

  • To ensure sustainability by embedding these skills and perspectives in participants’ long-term personal and civic lives.
